As a parent, open mindedness is probably the greatest thing you could ever pass on to your kids… through education, through your own example but there’s no better way than travelling and truly immersed yourself into other cultures and other ways of living/thinking. My mother raised my two siblings and I alone. She didn’t have a lot of money but I always saw her making huge sacrifices (depriving herself, working several jobs) to make sure we could have the opportunity to go abroad to study or just discover another environment. And I would be forever grateful to her for that. Thanks to her sacrifices, my circumstances are better than hers were and I want to pass that to my kids: go abroad, travel, confront yourselves to other cultures, educate yourselves from them, open your hearts and minds, learn that your way is not the only way and probably not the best way… those experiences will make you more understanding and tolerant and more appreciative of all the blessings you have and probably take for granted.
